making an rss feed

How can I make an rss feed for my website?

Comment #1 peeling from In front of my computer -

That should help you do it. Though there's a lot of web tools which automatically create rss feeds for you. All you need to is specify your URL, or website link. There are also software which you download and use to create RSS feeds.

Here's a list :

www.webreference.com/cgi-bin/perl/makerss.pl

www.feedforall.com/

softwaregarden.com/products/listgarden/index.html

There's lots more if these don't help.

Some great resources. How many items should a feed have? How long should each item be?

Well, it depends on the target audience.

If you want your feed displayed on other websites, then you want to have a short title, small descriptions and 5-10 items.

If you're looking at individual visitors, more and more sites are simply syndicating the full content of the page on to the feed, so that the reader can read the whole piece inside his reader. And that makes sense. Why would a reader want to open his web browser, if he's using his RSS reader?

Thanks for sharing the resources. I am using RSS for getting the news feeds into my PC. It is clear from the feeds that they are keeping the feed as simple and small. When clicking on the link you get the details in their site.
